Designing a vibrant, contemporary workspace for a FTSE 100 entertainment company

The Brief

As one of the world’s largest sports-betting and gaming groups, GVC Holdings (now Entain PLC) experienced continual business growth, outgrowing its previous offices. Woodhouse was  appointed to create a brand-new space to embody the brand, and aid future growth. The new space is situated in Woking, Surrey – a 12,000 sq ft area which, with the help of Woodhouse, had a huge amount of potential to become a smarter workspace.

The building was already fitted out to a CAT A standard with carpets and suspended ceilings. The key challenges faced by Woodhouse involved:

  • Removing ceilings and exposing the structural slab
  • Coordinating services to minimize the impact on the head room and achieve a bespoke lighting layout
  • Working with limited cable routes due to existing trunking in the floor screed

The Solution

Woodhouse’s experienced design team created a walkway and lighting track that zigzag through the space, enhancing the feeling of spaciousness and creating agile ‘zones’ for the various aspects of working life. The new workspace includes a fully branded reception area, integrated AV systems, and furniture that creates a vibrant aesthetic. The scheme features a large breakout area between two wings, and offers a variety of meeting rooms and quiet spaces for focused work. A large portion of the office had a lower ceiling, which was painted black to help create a feeling of space, and acoustic panels were suspended to absorb unwanted reverberation.

Matthew Cooper, Director at Woodhouse said, “We waved goodbye to battery hen working long ago. We’re designing smarter workspaces that truly perform today, and into the future. By intelligently breaking up the space, we have transformed what was a blank square office block into a modern workspace that enables maximum performance, with room to grow.”
