VATiT needed more office space due to expansion, and so acquired the 1st floor of a Victorian warehouse in West Hampstead. The building had recently gone through a Cat A refurbishment, and so required Woodhouse to deliver the Cat B office design and fitout.
The second phase involved VATiT acquiring the second floor of their building in London and, following the success of phase 1, Woodhouse was delighted to continue the relationship and create a new workspace which would seamlessly integrate with the first floor.
The finished space presented a workplace that was full of character with a modern twist. Careful consideration was given to protect the fabric of the building. The partitioning and lighting layout were adjusted to facilitate the exposed ceiling. Suspended acoustic panels were installed to mitigate the sound impact of having exposed polished concrete flooring. Woodhouse’s designers chose to use crittall partitioning within the space, giving an open feel to an enclosed area.
The overall colour scheme identifies with the brand, using feature tones and colours. The new workspace manages to complement and highlight the character of the building whilst also providing a modern and contemporary office for VATiT.
Taking reference from the historic architecture of the building, the high-level vaulted ceiling was developed to provide natural light and space, amplified by the installation of feature lighting. The new breakout area creates a larger space for employees to relax and unwind, with a coffee-shop ambience and dedicated bar area.
An airflake acoustic curtain separates the breakout area from the rest of the space, yet the design keeps the workplace as one. Whiteboard walls are a new feature to the top floor desking area, which enhances the potential for collaboration amongst staff.
Another tea point was installed around the exposed brickwork creating a centrepiece for the office.
VATiT now has a collaborative, efficient workplace that supports the business in its growth ambitions and highlights its investment in its people.
