A revitalised HQ for Hollywood Bowl Group

Hemel Hempstead

Hollywood Bowl Group

A support centre for a growing team

The UK’s market leading 10-pin bowling alley company, Hollywood Bowl Group has a total of 72 entertainment centres across the UK, each complimented by a licenced bar, Hollywood Diner and an amusements zone. Their support centre in Hemel Hempstead was over 10 years old and needed a freshen up, as well as catering for their growing team numbers. With this in mind, after purchasing an additional 4,000 square foot of space in the same business park as the current site, they commissioned Woodhouse to create a new people-orientated workspace.

Creating a workspace for team members

The north wing is dedicated to their customer call centre, again separated by planting dividers. There are a range of meeting rooms, and a wellbeing area in this wing too, but the showcase space is the central breakout and games zone, giving Hollywood Bowl a space to socialise in and hold company events.

Their new space is made up of 2 wings, north and west. Both are designed to be open-plan, with departments set in neighbourhoods, and using planting and storage dividers between them to retain privacy and comfortable acoustics.

Running down the centre of the West wing are a variety of spaces where team members can break off into small huddles or to collaborate. There is also a client greeting area, where they can welcome clients and visitors alike.

Creating atmosphere with colour

Moving away from their bright and bold colours of their bowling alleys, HBG have chosen a more muted palette, giving the space a natural and contemporary feel as well as a warm and homely atmosphere.

Project summary

The new space reflects the culture of the Hollywood Bowl Group vision, by bringing people together in a welcoming environment, giving them a chance to socialise and collaborate as well as providing a range of flexible work areas – a true success!
