Located in the heart of Farnborough Business Park, 200 and 250 Fowler Avenue are two attractively terracotta tile clad 90’s office buildings which present well externally. Built to a good specification, the reception areas were looking tired and required modernising to compete with other local comparable offices
Working within a fixed budget, Woodhouse won a competitive pitch to refresh the interiors. Research was carried out into the history of the old airfield on which the office buildings were located and this inspired the design team to create bespoke and dramatic wall art referencing early flight pioneers.
Contrasting colour schemes were introduced to complement the reception areas at the two sites, whilst textured, acoustic solutions were incorporated using felt feature walls which created bright and welcoming spaces.
The core of the brief was to modernise the reception whilst providing a striking visual identity that would encourage conversation with visitors. We used a copper finish to complement the exterior of the building and a dark background to complement the geometrical shape of the staircase. Colour and warmth were introduced via the use of soft furnishings providing a more inviting feel to the lobby area.
The project was carried out with tenants in occupation, before lockdown, and the asset manager secured a new letting of a floor shortly after.
An aviation-inspired refurbishment that has brought life and colour to the reception area, creating a bright, welcoming space, contributing towards attracting new tenancies post-lockdown.
